PATH FORWARD FOR COASTAL PROJECTS

AME works closely with the design team to provide geotechnical recommendations that meet the industry standards and take in to account the above listed constraints to better help Owners and Dredgers to plan and design their projects. Our services include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing Coastal Use Permits
  • Desktop study and research for planning mitigation projects, coastal protection and restoration projects, upland disposal sites and beneficial use of dredge material projects
  • Site exploration and field testing of soft soil on land, in marshes and open water sites
  • Obtaining, packaging and transporting high-quality soil samples
  • Specialized laboratory testing
  • Standard and specialized geotechnical laboratory testing (including low-stress consolidation and column settling tests)
  • Containment dike and levee stability analyses (slope stability, settlement and bearing capacity)
  • Hydraulically dredged and placed marsh fill analyses
  • Borrow area soil analyses to estimate dredgeability of soil and clay-ball formation
  • Ground improvements and strength gain
  • Instrumentation and monitoring of dredged and placed hydraulic fill (ISPs and other instrumentation)
  • During and post-construction analyses of marsh fill settlement based on instrumentation and monitoring of fill material
  • Preparing geotechnical and monitoring reports as required by the agencies/owners.

AME develops innovative methods and revives/updates previous methods that have been used for upland disposal sites (UDS) and applies these lessons to marsh creation/restoration projects. It is crucial to understand the various inputs into programs like Primary Consolidation, Secondary Compression, and Desiccation of Dredged Fill (PSDDF) that have been developed for UDS.

AME is experienced in industrial, commercial, roadway and other projects where geotechnical recommendations are required to design the project. AME’s staff has groundwater monitoring and well installation experience. Mr. Michael McKinney’s extensive experience in providing geotechnical and environmental field services is crucial to plan and execute geotechnical projects. AME is teamed with various vendors, subcontractors, and firms in Louisiana and Texas to provide specialized geotechnical services. AME’s team is well-versed with Method of Planes (MOP) program for levee slope stability and other geotechnical programs required for various projects.

Our team understands the local challenges and the importance of adapting to changing conditions during design and construction. Please feel free to contact us to talk about your next project or to simply discuss various ideas and options.

About Us

Since its inception in 2019, AME has worked with various public and private sector clients and provided practical geotechnical solutions for multiple projects. Although AME is a small business and Hudson initiative, we routinely adapt and raise to the occasion on completing complex and time sensitive projects. We are proud to have clients that trust our judgement and are seeing measurable benefits in working with us. In addition to standard geotechnical services, our team has been developing new methods to improve the design of hydraulically dredged and placed marsh fill. Given below is a summary of the experience of our principal and operations manager.

Venu Tammineni, P.E.

Mr. Tammineni is a registered professional engineer in the States of Texas, Louisiana, and Ohio. He specializes in providing geotechnical design in soft soil sediments and is passionate about protecting and restoring the Gulf coast. He has over 15 years of experience working on geotechnical design for beneficial use of dredge material, marsh restoration, beach and dune restoration, shoreline protection, mitigation and other projects. He has successfully completed projects for various public agencies and private sector clients. He is well versed with the Engineering and Design Manual (EM 1110-2-5025) for Dredging and Dredged Material Management and has been in active discussions with various agencies for coastal research. He has worked with Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) on numerous coastal projects. Mr. Tammineni has experience in instrumentation and monitoring of hydraulically dredged and placed marsh fill sediments and has been involved with developing methods on accounting for dredging activities in geotechnical design. He is involved with the construction and post-construction monitoring of hydraulically dredged and placed fill. He has planned, coordinated and executed numerous field exploration programs over the years for projects on land and open water. He has completed Low-Stress Consolidation testing for sediments and column-settling test. Typical analyses for these projects involve analyses of self-weight consolidation of sediments and foundation soil, and dewatering methods to provide accelerated settlement of the hydraulically dredged and placed fill. A few representative projects completed by Mr. Tammineni are listed below in addition to the other information.

The following is a partial project list in which Mr. Venu Tammineni, P.E., has provided geotechnical and/or monitoring services:
